Privacy policy

Macro Mentor (“the app,” “we”) is a nutrition coaching app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and the choices you have. We don't sell your data, and there are no ads.
What we collect
- Your Google account basics: your name and email address when you sign in with Google. We never see your Google password.
- Your profile: birthday, sex, height, weight, goal, activity level, workout days, food preferences, allergies and restrictions, cooking equipment, and grocery budget.
- Health information you choose to share: conditions you check in your profile (for example, pregnancy, diabetes, kidney disease, an eating disorder history, or weight-loss medication), and how you're feeling in weekly check-ins (energy, hunger, sleep, workouts, notes). These are optional. We use them only to keep your targets safe and your coaching relevant.
- What you log: foods and their nutrition, weigh-ins, body measurements, your targets, meal plans, grocery lists, saved meals, and your conversations with the coach.
- Your coach's notes: a short summary of what your coach has learned about you (for example, how your weight responds to calorie changes, or which days tend to go well), plus patterns worked out from your history. They're updated after your weekly check-ins, and you can read, edit, or clear them under Profile → What your coach knows.
- Progress photos: photos you choose to add on the Progress tab. They're stored privately and only you can see them. On a Bodybuilding Prep check-in, if you choose to compare your photos, that week's and an earlier week's photos are sent to our AI provider for that check-in only, and only the written comparison is saved with your check-in.
- Reminders: if you turn on notifications, we store a delivery address for your device (issued by your browser), the reminder times you choose, and your time zone.
- Feedback you send from the app.
- Waitlist: if you sign in before you're invited and join the waitlist, we keep your name and email so we can let you in later. Ask us to remove you anytime.
- Food photos: when you snap a photo to log food, it's sent to our AI provider to estimate the nutrition. We don't store food photos; we keep only the estimate you save.
- Usage records: for each AI request, which feature was used, when, how much text was processed, and what it cost. We use these to keep costs under control and set fair usage limits. When something breaks, we also log what failed and when, without your email or what you entered, so we can fix it.
- Cookies: one keeps you signed in, and one remembers your time zone so “today” matches your day. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To calculate your daily targets, build your meal plans, estimate the food you log, run your weekly check-ins, and answer your coach questions.
- To show your progress over time.
- To send the reminders you turn on.
- To understand how the app is used (for example, how many days people log, and which features they use) so we can improve it. We look at this inside the app; we don't use third-party analytics or tracking.
- To keep the app working, secure, and affordable to run, including usage limits.
We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
Who helps us run the app
We share data only with the services that make the app work, and only what each one needs:
- Anthropic (Claude, our AI provider) receives what's needed for each request, such as your profile, recent logs, plan, a photo you're estimating, progress photos you choose to compare at a check-in, or your question. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this data isn't used to train its models.
- Supabase stores your account, data, and progress photos, and handles sign-in.
- Open Food Facts, a free public food database, receives only the barcode number when you scan a package.
- Your browser's notification service (Apple, Google, or Mozilla, depending on your device) delivers reminders if you turn them on.
- Railway hosts the app.
- Stripe processes payments if you buy a plan. It receives your email address and payment details directly; we receive a record of the payment, never your full card number.
- Google provides sign-in.
We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or others.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open so your history and progress are there when you come back. When you delete your account in the app, your data and photos are deleted right away; if you ask us by email instead, we delete it within 30 days. Records of AI usage costs may be kept for our own accounting, with your email removed and never with the content of your requests.
Your choices
- You can view and edit your profile, logs, plan, and your coach's notes in the app at any time.
- You can download a copy of your data anytime from Profile → Download my data.
- You can turn reminders off on any device under Profile → Reminders, or in your browser's settings.
- You can clear your coach conversation from the Coach tab.
- You can make a private, read-only link for your own coach under Profile → Share with your coach. Anyone with the link can see your first name, targets, the last 14 days of food totals and weigh-ins, your latest check-in, and your meal plan (never your email or progress photos). We only create the link when you ask, and you can turn it off anytime there.
- You can delete your account and everything in it anytime from Profile → Delete account.
- If you can't sign in to download or delete your data, email [email protected]. We'll confirm the request comes from your account's email address before acting on it.
Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with a database provider that encrypts it at rest. Only the app's server can read or write it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects it.
Age
The app is for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Not medical care
The app gives general nutrition guidance, not medical advice. See our terms of service.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
